Ray's Story
I began learning Judo at the age of 10 & quickly realised this was my passion. I achieved my Blackbelt at
the age of 16, and went on to forge a career in Judo.
I won European silver in 1994 in Gdansk. Also, the Commonwealth Games in 1986 and 1990 and was multiple winner of the British Open. I won international medals at the Tournoi de Paris, München, Prague and Leonding.
After taking Silver for GB in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, I began wanting to share & pass on my skills & knowledge learnt over the years of competing. After many years teaching at The Budokwai , my home dojo & in a variety of venues and schools, I was able to open my very own Dojo - Ray Stevens Academy. With martial arts the learning never ends - and im delighted to have created an excellent space with first class instructors to continue passing on my love for Judo, BJJ & a host of grappling martial arts to all.
